Sunday worship services are at 9:15 and 10:45 am.
Our Sunday morning schedule has recently changed. Our worship services now begin at 9:15 am and 10:45 am. Get more details about how we spend our time on Sunday morning and why, and get even more specifics about Sunday morning time for families with children and youth.
We love when families worship together! We encourage families with children or youth to worship together at the 9:15 service, and then participate in Fellowship Groups and Sunday school at 10:45. Children’s Sunday school and the Youth Fellowship Group are offered only at 10:45 am.
Sunday School and Fellowship Groups
We have year-round Sunday school classes for children and Youth Fellowship Groups to serve those age 2 and through 12th grade. The list of children’s and youth offerings can be found here. Adults participate in stage-in-life-based Fellowship Groups. Get more info on the Fellowship Groups.
Sunday Morning Parking
In the coming weeks, with AU students arriving back and with our schedule change beginning next week, we anticipate our parking to be a little more challenging. Please allow an extra few minutes to get here and get parked. A parking diagram is available here and is also on display in the foyer of the sanctuary.
In celebration of the 500 year anniversary of the Reformation, we are getting together on Sunday, October 1, for a brief service of prayer and praise followed by a party on the lawn of the White House. We will have food, inflatables for the kids, and live bluegrass music. We kick things off at 4:30 PM. The church will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and water. Last names beginning with A-R, please bring a side or salad. S-Z, please bring dessert. When preparing your dish, please add a little extra for our guests and college students. Mark it on your calendar and remember to bring a tailgate chair and/or a picnic blanket.
Children’s Ministry Opportunities
Are you willing to serve occasionally in our nursery on Sunday mornings? We would like to expand the volunteer list to include all willing and able women of all ages. You would typically serve 4-5 times a year during one service. We are also in need of an additional co-teacher for our K class. It is a co-teaching role in which the teachers rotate teaching duties (usually one month on and one month off), so it does allow you to be involved in a Fellowship Group. Please prayerfully consider if God is calling you to serve and love our children through Children’s Ministry! (FPO Membership is required for these roles.) Contact Lisbeth to hear more.
f you are interested in joining FPO, or you would like to learn more about our church and/or our denomination, Noah is teaching our Discover class this month. The class consists of two sections, the first was last week, and the second is on September 24, from 12:30 to 2:30 in our fellowship hall. It is bring-your-own-lunch. You can still attend the second session if you would like, then you could catch the first session on the next round in early 2018. Childcare is available by reservation only. Sign up in the foyer at the small group table, or by emailing the church office, making sure to indicate childcare needs.
Men’s Saturday Morning Group
Men, you are invited to join us every Saturday morning at 8AM in the living room of the White House for our Men’s Fellowship Group. We are currently studying the book of Ephesians for a couple more weeks, and we will then be starting a new series by Paul Tripp called, “Good And Angry”. If you are looking for a place where you can study God’s Word, pray, and fellowship with other men in our church, then please join us. For more information, contact Robert Tansill. Hope to see you there!
Meals for Beavers and Schwenks
Meals will be great blessing to both the Beaver and the Schwenk families over the next year. Please consider serving in this small way! The Beaver meal schedule is for Fridays, and the Schwenk meal schedule is for Tuesdays. The meal schedules run through December, but we will extend them after the new year. Neither families have any special dietary needs. Thank you for loving and serving the Beavers and Schwenks!
Small Group Sign-Up
If you are interested in participating in a small group this fall, sign-ups will begin on Sunday, August 13, and will run through September 3. You can sign up on the small table in the foyer. Small groups will begin on September 10.
Connect with FPO
Did you know that FPO is on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram? We often use these for announcements and updates about what is going on with our church family. Please like/share our page on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter (@1stPresOpelika). We plan to use our social media more and more in the future to pass along information.
Did you know that FPO has a church member directory online and an easy-to-use mobile app to go with it? If you’re not using it to easily stay connected with your church family, you should be! Members of FPO can access it with just a few simple steps. You can use it to see photos and get contact info for FPO members. Click here to find out how to get set up!

For more information about our Phase 2 Building Campaign, the letter and information shared HERE should provide you with an overview of where we are prayerfully headed. God is always faithful, and we have no doubt He will be faithful to us in the midst of this season of prayerful preparation and discernment! If you have questions, feel free to reach out to Noah or Bill Price at any time.
