Prison Ministry Christmas Boxes
First United Methodist Church of Opelika needs our help with Christmas boxes for the Prison Ministry. Empty boxes with instructions are on the table in the Fellowship Hall. Boxes must be returned by December 8th. Contact Shannon Duffy for more information.
All men are welcome to the men’s gathering at the White House on Saturday mornings at 8 am. We’ll continue our study and discussion in Acts. Look forward to seeing you there!
Cookies and Volunteers Needed!
Each year, FPO is the last stop on Opelika’s Victorian Front Porch Walking Tour, and we treat the community to baked goodies and hot cider or cocoa. This year, it falls on December 9. We need volunteers both to make and to serve the cookies/treats. This is a great way for us to serve our community. You can sign up to volunteer at the small table in the sanctuary lobby. Contact Lynne Schwarzauer with questions.
Church Office Hours
Please note that the church office will be closed Wednesday-Friday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Interested in Missions? Perspectives course being offered in Auburn!
There will be a 15 week class offered called “Perspectives”. It is designed around 4 vantage points or perspectives — Biblical, Historical, Cultural & Strategic. Each highlights different aspects of God’s global purpose. The class will be hosted by Covenant Pres in Auburn, on Tuesday evenings, January 16-April 24. For more info, contact Steve Shiflett, or check out the Perspectives website, or pick up a brochure from the table in the lobby.
Sunday Morning Parking
Please note that there is NO PARKING allowed on our side of 3rd Avenue (the rear of our property), stretching the whole block between 9th and 10th Streets.
Our parking may be a little bit challenging these days. Please allow an extra few minutes to get here and get parked. A parking diagram is available here and is also on display in the foyer of the sanctuary.
If you are interested in joining FPO, or you would like to learn more about our church and/or our denomination, Noah will be teaching another round of the Discover FPO class soon. Stay tuned for more info.
Meals for Beavers and Schwenks
Meals will be great blessing to both the Beaver and the Schwenk families over the next year. Please consider serving in this small way! The Beaver meal schedule is for Fridays, and the Schwenk meal schedule is for Tuesdays. The meal schedules run through December, but we will extend them after the new year. Neither families have any special dietary needs. Thank you for loving and serving the Beavers and Schwenks!
