GUIDE TO WORSHIP
How many times have you heard someone say, “Hell is a symbol for separation from God.”? But, let’s actually think about it for just a moment; to be separated from God for eternity is no threat to someone who wants nothing to do with God and is impenitent. We might even say the ungodly want nothing more than to be separated from God and for them, that is no real threat but comfort. The truth is, their problem in hell will not be separation from God, it will be the very presence of God that will torment them. God will be very present in the fullness of His divine wrath in hell. He will be there to exercise His just punishment of the damned. They will know Him as an all-consuming fire.
Revelation 16 is a picture of God pouring out His wrath on “the beast” and those who follow him and certainly it is very frightening but, all of this is meant to lead us to Christ, the Savior, Who for us has borne the cup of the Father’s wrath so that all who are in Him cannot and will not bear it again.
Let us wonder grace and justice, join and point to mercy’s store
When through grace in Christ our trust is, justice smiles and asks no more
