The overarching goal of FPO is to equip believers to impact our community and world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This goal is summed up in the words KNOW (the love of God), GROW (as a follower of Jesus Christ), and GO (into the world to make disciples). One of the main ways we seek to accomplish this task is through adult education where believers are encouraged and equipped to live and share a gospel-saturated faith in both word and deed with a lost and dying world. So, consider joining us as we grow together in the faith, working to fulfill the mission that God (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) has called His church.
Join us beginning Sunday, June 4, at 9:45 a.m. for a new round of Sunday School classes. This Summer we will be offering the following classes for you to be a part of, to not only grow in your faith, but also in community with other believers.
THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD – The foundation of all true knowledge of God must be a clear understanding of His perfect attributes and character as revealed in Scripture. An unknown God can neither be trusted, served, nor worshipped. In this class, based on Arthur Pink’s book by the same title, an effort has been made to set forth some of the principal attributes of God’s character. If the believer is to truly understand God, he needs to definitely and earnestly ask God to bless them to him, to apply His Truth to the conscience and heart, so that his life will be transformed by it. Something more than a theoretical knowledge of God is needed by us. God is only truly known in the soul as we yield ourselves to Him, submit to His authority, and guide all the details of our lives by His word. (Teacher: Mitch Galishoff; Location: Chapel)
JUSTIFIED BY FAITH ALONE – “Trust in Jesus Christ by faith alone”, is the foundational answer to the question, “What must I do to be saved?” The doctrine of justification by faith alone is at the center of Reformation theology, and remains critical for all believers today. This doctrine is continually under assault, yet without it, there is no gospel. In Justified by Faith Alone we will explore the doctrine of justification historically and theologically, using Dr. R.C. Sproul’s video of the same title as our guide. We will seek to carefully understand each term in the phrase “justification by faith alone” which points to the imputation of a perfect righteousness found only in Jesus Christ. (Teachers: Terry Andrus & Gary Page; Location: Fellowship Hall)
EXPLORING DEUTERONOMY – Seeing God’s Faithfulness. – In this nine week class we will be studying the book of Deuteronomy to see how God is always working in the good times and bad for His glory and our good. Join us for a great time of discussion and discovery as we focus on the work of a Sovereign God in the lives of His chosen people in the midst of a fallen world. (Teacher: Roger Van Nostrand; Location: The White House Living Room)
